Pilot Light’s goal is to empower children with the knowledge, attitudes, and skills they need to have healthy relationships with food. The competencies that children gain from their program will serve children throughout their lives and spread their message to the broader community. Pilot Light is proud to partner in the Chicago Food Day effort as an organization working toward a nation where food is healthy, affordable, and sustainably produced. You can see Pilot Light on October 24th at Two North Riverside at 9:30am. Their chefs and founders, Paul Kahan, Jason Hammel, and Justin Large will be doing an interactive food poetry slam lesson with children from Chicago Public Schools. Beginning at 11:30am, you can pick up a harvest taco from Big Star with 100% of all proceeds going to support Pilot Light’s work in schools. The Two North Riverside Plaza Food Day event is a partnership between The Plaza Project, Gary Comer Youth Center, Growing Healthy People and Building A Healthier Chicago. We hope that you will stop by Two North Riverside to see them in action!
